9th Internation Bluegrass and Acoustic Music Festival, 12-14 August 2011, Abaliget, Hungary, lakeside

Application

Last year applications for the festival have been modified a bit. To be correct the application itself is the same, you have to get in contact in some way with Lógó Atilla or Szőke Tamás. After the application we need the technical details of your band to be sent in email to make the application complete.

Few words about the festival

The festival is non profit, entry is free. The minimal financial and technical requirements are provided by the Hungarian Bluegrass Music Association through tenders, donations and dues. The local government of Abaliget is a great help, they fixed up the open air stage and provide the cover for the stage each year. Because of our availabilities we can only pay the invited foreign bands. In return we provide high quality amplification which we are proud to set up against major international festivals.

In previous years we had only one term for the bands:

"Only instruments that are capable of producing sound on their own without microphone (or any other amplification) are allowed."

There were some problems from this statement so we explain it a bit now:
There are quite few festivals that select based on techniques. Our goal is to create a program where natural instruments can be heard on their natural voices. For example instead of a digital piano we provide an acoustic one. Because of historical and humanic reasons the electric bass guitar is the only electrical instrument allowed but we encourage everyone to use an acoustic bass guitar or upright bass. We also accept the amplification of acoustic guitars through piezo or magnetic transducers (since we're talking about a basically acoutic instrument) but we hugely appreciate if our microphones are used to give back the real sound. So making it short, organum non grata are the electric guitar (also jazz guitar), digital piano, electric piano and others alike.

After the banter here are those who made a sacrifice and gave a great show: Tenderfoot Blues Unit (guitar), Live Act Folk Project (guitar), Yasya (stick).

If you are not frightened off by the above, please contact Lógó Atilla or Szőke Tamás.
